Svjetski dan mira, priznat je Rezolucijom Ujedinjenih naroda i obilježava se 21. rujna. Na Svjetski dan mira Ujedinjeni narodi žele podići svijest o važnosti prevencije sukoba i izgradnji svjetskog mira. Svakog 21. rujna zvoni "Zvono mira" u sjedištu Ujedinjenih naroda.
On zahtijeva šire razumijevanje.
Pokušavamo dati mali doprinos lijepom svijetu u kojem nitko nije marginaliziran i gdje različiti pogledi na svijet mogu živjeti zajedno u miru i spokoju.
World Day of Peace, was recognised as September 21 by the United Nations Resolution. On the Day of Peace, the United Nations aims to raise awareness for the prevention of conflicts and peace-building around the world. Every September 21, the "Peace Bell” is tolled at the United Nations Headquarters.
This bell, commissioned by United Nations Association of Japan to commemorate the humanitarian carnage in wars, was produced with coins donated by children from all continents of the world. The inscription "Long Live Absolute World Peace" was engraved on the bell.
The right to peace is a human right for both individuals and society, and it is described as the "sacred right to peace" by the UN. Because the right to peace is a right of solidarity. Because the right to peace is related to other rights, just as all other human rights are interconnected. The right to peace is a right that should be considered together in the fight against disarmament and poverty.
Peace is not just a concept that should be understood as the absence of armed conflict. It requires a broader understanding. It must be understood at the international and national level. At the same time, it should be understood on the basis of respect for human values. The idea of peace is compatible with the idea of providing the highest level of developmental, economical, social and cultural standards to societies.
Peace is one of the most important concepts for each citizen of the world, but it has utmost importance especially for minorities and vulnerable groups. People who has to seek for refuge when there is no peace in their hometowns are the ones directly being harmed by policies that seek violence and suffering. For example, Roma people and other minorities from Asian and African countries who were escaping from the war in Ukraine to safe countries were discriminated. They were not allowed on busses that carry people to the borders. At the borders they received discrimination and refusal as well. Peace and seeking refuge is every individuals right, but this right is sometimes only recognised for certain people.
War, oppression and suffering continues in the world. But efforts to rebuild the earth, establish peace and freedom, and spread goodness all over the world have always existed. We are trying to make small contributions to a beautiful world where no one is marginalised and where different views can live together in peace and tranquility. Issue of peace has become a dominant problem after the devastations second world war created, with genocides, carnage and millions of civilian lives lost. World responded by creating United Nations, which is an organisation that is mainly focused on keeping the world peace. After the first world war, there was a similar attempt called League of Nations which resolved after being unsuccessful of stoping war of Japan on China and aggression of Italy to Ethiopia. Even though UN has been successful at times to stop wars, anytime there is a war that involves the security council permanent members of UN, which are Russian Federation, China, USA, UK and France, due to their right to veto, UN has failed to intervene.
Regardless of race, colour, language, religion, political opinion, social status or any other discrimination in the world; Happy September 21, International Day of Peace, with the hope of a peaceful future where everyone lives equally and freely.
